The Wall Street Journal's Market Watch reports that NEC has established the NEC Biometrics Excellence Center in Bangalore, India. The facility will focus on improving and expanding the company's biometrics technology and security solutions.
 
NEC announced in February that it plans to increase its public safety business to 100 billion yen this year. According to the report, organizations in more than 30 countries already use NEC's 200-plus biometrics solutions.
