TD Bank, which bills itself as "America's Most Convenient Bank," earlier this week announced the launch of a kiosk-based fundraising effort for earthquake victims in Haiti.
For the 30 days following the Jan. 19th announcement TD Bank branches in Florida will accept donations through its "Coins for Caring" campaign, encouraging people to use the bank's free, self-service Penny Arcade coin-counting kiosks and then donate all or a portion of the cash to the campaign. Funds raised through Coins for Caring will go to relief agency Food for the Poor to assist in disaster relief, and the fundraising campaign comes in addition to the bank's $100,000 donation last week, according to a company release.
"With a natural disaster of this magnitude, the need for substantial financial aid is enormous," said Tom te Riele, market president, Florida. "Assisting people in need is an important part of TD Bank and we hope many people will join us in this effort to provide much needed assistance to the victims of the overwhelming catastrophe. Every little bit helps."
