Bike-share kiosks set to ride in Minneapolis

A bike-sharing program allowing customers to rent bicycles from self-service kiosks achieved "a key approval" from the Minneapolis City Council on Friday, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Plans call for the program to get rolling with as many as 80 solar-powered, wireless-connected kiosks and up to 1,000 bicycles, with kiosks concentrated in the Downtown and Uptown sections of the city and at the University of Minnesota.

Riders can buy annual key cards or use credit cards for by-the-ride rentals.
