NCR going Baltic with self-checkout

NCR Corp. recently announced the rollout of its first self-checkout installation in Estonia, at the RÃµÃµmu Department Store, according to The Baltic Course.

Deployed by channel partner New Vision, it more than doubles the number of registers that can be used in the store without reducing floor space for merchandise.

Visual and verbal prompts in a choice of Estonian, Russian or English guide shoppers through the self-checkout process, and a recent poll showed that 84 percent of the store's customers have used the self-checkout systems and 99 percent of those said they would use them again.
