ID TECH, a provider of mag-stripe and smart-card readers and other peripheral devices, today announced it has joined the Secure POS Vendor Alliance (SPVA). The SPVA is a nonprofit organization founded by payments industry leaders Hypercom, Ingenico and VeriFone whose purpose is to develop end-to-end security standards and to implement and enhance payment solutions to protect the cardholder's personal information against fraud and security breaches.
ID TECH says in a news release that joining the alliance will allow the company to foster widespread compliance with existing security standards, ensure these industry standards are properly implemented, and provide input on future changes to those standards. The company also says it will participate in SPVA working groups regarding standardization and implementation of existing security standards and standards for end-to-end security transactions.
