When the 365-acre Chicago Botanic Garden initiated a $50.9 million campaign to enhance its facilities, the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Plant Conservation Science Center was to be its cornerstone. The first phase of a comprehensive plant science initiative for the Garden, the Plant Science Center is a 38,000 square-foot building designed to achieve the U.S. Green Building Council gold rating for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED.
To offer a unique educational experience, Chicago Botanic Garden tapped interactive design agency 15 letters Inc., also based in Chicago, to implement a rollout of interactive touchscreen kiosks featuring participatory games, videos and simulations to engage visitors as they tour the facility.
