Express India: A touchscreen kiosk has simplified the process of viewing land records in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, where searching for records used to take days. The first kiosk with all the information about land records in the state has been installed in Sadar tehsil of Lucknow and Sadar tehsils of all the districts are expected to be covered under the scheme by mid-2009. While the kiosk can be used for viewing the land records free of cost, users can also request for a copy of the record from the adjoining computer office already established in all the districts. The kiosk has been developed by IBM Corp. and the software has been specially designed in Hindi by NIC, Uttar Pradesh to suit the local requirements.
