Prisoner info kiosk coming from Northern Ireland security company

The Financial Times: Core Systems, which supplies biometrics to the U.K. Home Office and Irish Republic prison authorities in Northern Ireland, is introducing a new electronic kiosk in the U.S. market. The kiosk uses a simple hand sensor to allow inmates to access personalized information about visitor times, release dates and personal health information, as well as how much credit they have to spend at the prison shop. The company hopes to make a name for itself with this product so it can sell its control access software, which uses fingerprint, iris and facial matching to allow prison authorities to identify individual inmates and control their movements. The software is used in Northern Ireland, where inmates from rival paramilitary factions are housed under one roof but have to be kept apart.
