• Target uses gift registry kiosks for product recall, safety alerts

WASHINGTON — Target stores nationwide have started using kiosks to alert customers of product recalls.

According to a news release, the retail chain is posting signs throughout its stores that direct shoppers to gift registry kiosks near the guest service desk to learn about recalled products.

Through the kiosk system, customers will have easy access to notices of new or past recalls for all product categories. They also can print copies of safety notices.

Target will continue to post safety and recall information at Target.com, provide links to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (and related Web sites, and send emails to guests who have purchased recalled products online.

By logging on to www.cpsc.gov/cpsclist.aspx consumers can tailor the type of e-mail notification they prefer, based on product type, such as household products or infant/child products.

To further increase awareness of recalls, Target has introduced a new process for eligible Target REDcard account holders, which provides recorded phone messages for guests who purchase an item that has been recalled.

We juat purchaced a sony 40" TV from target in Winchester Va. which my wife has spent 2 years saving for through yard sales. She finally had enough saved $600. The TV was $574. The young saleman was very helpful and polite. When he was help loading it into the car we notice a red tag repackage. He said he was very sorry we missed that and ended up reducing down to $426. The saleman desires a pat on the back, because he was very nice and helpful. He took the time to take the TV back into the store checked it over real good and help load it. It was the most pleasent 30 min shopping experience we have had in long time to have someone so helpfull and taking the time to care about thier customer instead of collecting the money and hurry up get out. Thanks you Target and the young man that surved us that day.
