DOVER, N.H. — Telpar, a thermal printer manufacturer specializing in the design, manufacturing and distribution of self-service and specialty receipt printers, has made enhancements to its Stealth Series thermal printer line with the introduction of the MTP-2822 USB and the MTP-2283i USB models. Both models will be exhibited Oct. 14-15 at the KioskCom Self Service Expo in New York.

The MTP-2283i USB model has USB and Ethernet connectivity options that allow for even easier integration and increased productivity in a wider range of self-service and kiosk printer applications, including multimedia kiosks, gift registry, mapping, financial statements, pharmaceutical data, remote printing and product applications.

The printer accommodates up to an 8.5-inch by 8-inch diameter roll of continuous paper that allows up to 1,100 sheets per roll at 300 dpi resolution and print speeds of 2 inches per second.

The MTP-2283i USB printer has the same footprint as the current MTP-2283i for easy integration into legacy environments. It is built with a metal frame for increased rigidity and durability in high-use applications. Print drivers are available for Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP, and to maximize the MTP-2283i configuration versatility a flash memory allows storage for print logos, bar codes, graphics, customer specific text and Web site pages. The MTP-2283i USB firmware can be refreshed with upgrades when connected to a host PC.

The second printer to be featured at KioskCom, the MTP-2822 thermal printer, comes with the same connectivity options as previous models in the 2200 series, with the additional options of USB 2.0, serial, parallel and Ethernet connectivity. This provides more flexibility for use in legacy applications.

The MTP-2822 USB printer has a 2-inch paper width and uses a Fujitsu printer mechanism that has a print speed of up to 7 inches per second and a resolution of 200 dpm. It features a 6-inch diameter paper supply that yields approximately 550 feet of output, allowing for maximum integration flexibility.

To allow use in extreme temperatures, the printer was designed to have an operating temperature range of -25 to +70 degrees Celsius, solving a key challenge with thermal printing in terms of creating consistent images in cold environments.
