(Rochester, N.Y.) Democrat and Chronicle: Wegmans Food Markets, a family-owned, 71-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland, has introduced self-checkout lanes at its Penfield, N.Y., store. The pilot program will continue for at least a few months, and if customers like using self-checkout, the company plans to roll out the system to other Wegmans locations.
