PADERBORN, Germany — Wincor Nixdorf will equip Carrefour stores in Argentina with 70 reverse vending systems. The systems, which are designed to accept returns of refillable and non-refillable beverage containers including cans, will be supplied and installed over the remainder of this year.
According to a news release, Wincor Nixdorf's Revendo systems are fully tried and tested, can be deployed internationally, and make a significant contribution to process optimization and cost reduction. The benefits of reverse vending systems lie in their capacity to reduce the need for manual work and to cut down on theft and waste. They are also broadly welcomed by retail customers, especially on account of the shorter waiting times involved.
Wincor Nixdorf's reverse vending systems are integrated into the stores' existing IT infrastructure via a standardized, open-software interface. This makes it possible to connect to just about any POS system and to post returns and credit deposits directly. The interface also prepares retailers for future applications such as centralized product range control. Another cost-saving feature of Wincor Nixdorf's Revendo systems is the extensive online-servicing support available. Many requests can be resolved online, saving time and reducing the costs of on-site technical support.
