CHICAGO — With Pan-Oston's Utopia new self-checkout solution, grocery distributor Strack and Van Til has surpassed the million-dollar milestone for self-scanned transactions in the Chicago area.
According to a news release, Strack and Van Til began its 30-store rollout of the Utopia model in May. To date, six of its stores are using the self-checkout system.
"Our cashiers love working the self-checkout lanes," said Henry Bykerk, director of information systems for Strack & Van Til. "(Self-checkout) provides them with an opportunity to really interact with customers, and in some cases make the checkout process even faster."
The Utopia self-checkout solution is plug-and-go, works with or without POS management software, is PCI compatible, and can be used with existing lanes and hardware.
