ePaynews: MasterCard is about to enter the next phase of its New York City contactless payments trial. The card scheme in July launched a limited trial of PayPass tap-and-go payments with Citibank on the New York City subway. Now MasterCard has teamed up with mobile operator Cingular Wireless and Citi to test cellular phones that contain near-field communication (NFC) contactless-payments technology.
