Czech Business Weekly: With passenger traffic continuously growing at Prague RuzynÄ› Airport, modern technologies are set to ensure smooth and speedy check-in.
LetiÅ¡tÄ› Praha, the company that operates the airport, has installed eight self-service check-in kiosks, including one testing kiosk, at its new terminal. By the end of the year, major airlines including British Airways, Air France, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines (Swiss), and Czech Airlines (ÄŒSA) plan to offer the service to their passengers, said LetiÅ¡tÄ› Praha spokeswoman Veronika SedláÄÂková. German air carrier Lufthansa has installed its own kiosk at the airport in Prague. By using the self-service kiosks, passengers can check in by themselves at the airport.
But what is in the pilot stage in Prague is becoming commonplace at major airports. In early June, KLM in cooperation with Schiphol Group opened Europe's first departure hall offering only self-service check-in facilities. The 60 self-service check-in kiosks and 56 baggage drop-off points were installed at the renovated Departure Hall 2 at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, and the check-in capacity increased by 66 percent.
