North Jersey: Governor Corzine shelved a proposal to let New Jersey motorists pump their own gas May 2, after objections streamed into the state's House and legislators promised to block the measure. Corzine said that while he still believes an experiment involving a handful of self-service gas stations might lead to lower fuel costs, it isn't worth a costly political showdown.
