Democrat and Chronicle: Martin's Super Food Store in Perinton, N.Y.,is the fifth store in the Giant Carlisle chain to employ handheld customer scanners — the company calls the program Easy Shop — and the first in the Rochester-Buffalo market.

"It was great," said shopper Elaine Sia. "The nice thing about it was you could keep track of how much you were spending while you shopped. I'll use it every time."
