PADERBORN, Germany — PesaPoint, the first independent Kenyan ATM operator, has awarded Wincor Nixdorf an order to supply 120 ProCash 1500xe ATMs, according to a news release. Kenyan banks which do not have their own ATM network will be able to offer their customers the ability to conduct self-service transactions using the PesaPoint network. The self-service systems are installed in towns and rural areas. The order is the biggest of this kind in Kenya so far, and the rollout is due to be completed by the end of November 2005.
The country-wide system rollout is being undertaken by Electronic Financial Transactions Kenya Limited, a local Wincor Nixdorf partner.
"PesaPoint offers a large part of the Kenyan national population the ability to withdraw their cash," said Bernard Matthewman, managing director PesaPoint, emphasizing the importance of the contract.
