ePaynews: Findings from the Japan Credit Card Association show that 93 percent of 684 consumers profiled expressed a preference for chip cards, while 54 percent knew that mag-stripe cards are being phased out. Smart cards were popular with consumers due to their anti-counterfeiting functions, PIN security, and the fact that the cards are used in visible proximity to a cash register.
