Netherlands' biometric passport program faces technical problems

China View: The Netherlands is facing technical problems with its new biometric passports required by the United States for visa-free travels.

About 1.6 percent of the photographs in the 14,500 new passports are not clear enough to distinguish the facial features of the holders, and little children and the elderly seem to have a problem scanning their fingerprints as they have to hold on their fingers for quite a while for the procedure.
