"Wireless access is not an option anymore, it is a necessity, especially when it comes to travel," said Brad Cartwright, president of Transnet Wireless. "The new venture with Jubilee will put them among the premier travel centers, and will set a higher standard for the types of services consumers are demanding."
Transnet Wireless is establishing a national network of Wi-Fi Hot Spots through an innovative private local distributorship program in which the Hot Spot equipment is placed in locations at no cost to the location owner. The hardware, maintenance and monthly Internet connection fees are all paid for by the local distributor, who profits from usage fees. A percentage of the revenues are also shared with the location.
Roger Stathes, retail general manager for Jubilee, said the kiosks will allow Jubilee to provide local residents, travelers and truck drivers another service to make their lives and travel more convenient. "Internet access is part of people's daily lives in this day and age," he said, pointing out that business travelers will be able to stay constantly informed while on the road, and truck drivers can use the Internet to check locations and directions. Stathes said that Transnet was the best choice for his company, citing Transnet's "superior service" and ability to handle high-volume accounts.
