PORTLAND, Ore. — VERO, a financial-services technology provider that works with financial institutions to reach the unbanked, has named Karen Lawson vice president of engineering and technology, according to a news release.
Lawson will oversee the development and implementation of imaging, networking and software technologies that support VERO's financial services products. She also will provide strategic guidance for product development.
Lawson has more than 20 years of experience in IT systems development and engineering. Most recently she led numerous research and development programs at Kodak Ltd. in the United Kingdom, including imaging systems and software initiatives.
She also held technical positions with IBM, VeriFone and Sequent Computers, and a business management position with Portland, Ore.-based ProDX, before joining VERO.
Lawson holds a bachelor's degree in mathematical physics from University of California at Davis and a master's degree in engineering from the Oregon Graduate Institute of Technology. She also completed doctoral studies in computer science at University College London, where she performed research work in computational intelligence and contextual adaptation for mobile imaging systems.
