NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Italy's leading banking group, UniCredit Banca, is upgrading its self-service network after signing a deal with Diebold Inc. (NYSE: DBD). According to a news release, the bank bought 337 Opteva ATMs from Diebold. The sale includes the Opteva through-the-wall walk-up cash dispenser. And about 100 of those machines will include Night Drop Depository, which allows the customer to use an ATM card to process a deposit.
Approximately 170 of the new ATMs have been installed and are operational at bank branches across Italy.
The bank’s Opteva terminals are powered by Diebold's Agilis Power software, an open, cross-vendor software platform that allows multiple vendors' terminals and their respective technologies to co-exist. Agilis Power is a toolkit that software engineers can use to develop custom applications.
To combat fraud, Opteva ATMs are equipped with fraud-resistant dispensers, card readers and encrypted PIN pads, and are compliant with EMV standards.
