FREMONT, Calif.—SMART Modular Technologies has announced in a news release that it has launched its Display Products Group in order to deliver thin film transistor liquid-crystal display solutions for casino gaming systems as well as kiosk, ATM, point-of-sale, and industrial control systems. The new Display Products Group will benefit from the technical and engineering expertise of the LCD development team based in Korea and the sales, operations, procurement, purchasing, manufacturing, and engineering expertise of SMART employees based in the United States and around the world.
"With our Display Products Group, SMART is uniquely positioned to manufacture and deliver complete end-to-end TFT-LCD solutions to our U.S. and global customers," said Kiwan Kim, vice president of the Display Product Group for SMART. "We have significant competitive advantages, especially in the areas of engineering, manufacturing, product lead time, delivery, and customization."
Custom systems are available, such as those with special timing modes and functional support for gaming, amusement, and entertainment applications. Manufacturing will take place at SMART's state-of-the-art 130,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Fremont, which is equipped with a Class 10,000 clean room and on-site operations, manufacturing engineering, and development engineering support. As part of SMART's long-range planning process, the facility was specifically designed to enable fast ramp up of additional capacity.
