• Triton's CDMA wireless solution certified by two transaction processors

LONG BEACH, Miss. ? Triton began production of the RL5000 ATM featuring a Code Division Multiple Access wireless communication option on Feb. 18.

Triton's CDMA wireless solution has already been certified by two transaction processors, Columbus Data Services and RBS Lynk.

According to a news release, RBS Lynk certified Triton's new communication capability on Dec. 7, 2004. CDS announced on Feb. 10 that it had also certified Triton's CDMA option.

Several other processors including NYCE, Core Data, Nationwide Money Services, Switch Commerce and ITECH are working with Triton to certify the solution.

Advantages of wireless communications include mobility, faster transactions and cost reductions. ATM operators can deploy terminals in temporary locations without having to pay the costs of installing a phone line.

Triton's wireless carrier, Verizon Wireless, offers one of the largest data networks in the country, enabling ATM transactions to be performed wherever digital cellular service is available.

"Triton's ability to support CDMA on their ATMs offers many advantages," said John Willmon, vice president of business development at CDS. "It gives you the ability to move the ATM anywhere within the wireless provider'sfootprint without having to install a phone line, and it gives you faster transactions at a cost that is less than the cost of a dialup line, which means higher transactions in high volume locations."

According to Triton President Brian Kett, the RL5000 is the first of several models that will be produced with a wireless CDMA option.

"We anticipate that both the retail and financial markets will welcome this new technology," Kett said.
