BERKSHIRE, United Kingdom — The Norfolk and Norwich Millennium Library has installed a new Dicoll Kiosk featuring Esprit Software. Equipped with a coin acceptor, the kiosks give library visitors the ability to pay for printing costs at their convenience, according to a news release.
Since it’s opening in 2000, the library has always had a system in place that allowed visitors to pay for their printing requirements. With over 100 public access Internet terminals, it has always been important that the library has an easy and efficient way of managing printing transactions. The decision to upgrade to a Dicoll kiosk system was taken as the library needed something that was wheelchair accessible and easy to use.
"For the last three years we have had a machine that allows customers to complete a similar transaction to this one, we did however decide to upgrade to Dicoll’s Kiosk system as it seems much easier to use, and more importantly it is wheelchair accessible," said Jan Holden of Norfolk County Council. "We have really appreciated the dialogue and involvement that Dicoll have given us throughout the design process; it means that we now have a product that is exactly what we wanted. Users seem to be more confident using this unit, and on the whole it has been very well received by staff and customers alike."
The unit was originally a custom built solution for Millennium Library but is now more widely available with peripherals such as a smart card reader and secure chip & pin capabilities.
