• Kiosk check-in available for America West interline e-ticket travel

PHOENIX — America West Airlines, the nation's second largest low-fare carrier, announced that it has activated an interline e-ticketing agreement with a sixth U.S. carrier.

According to a news release, consumers with travel plans that include both America West and Northwest Airlines flights can now enjoy the convenience of electronic ticketing, eliminating the need for paper tickets. Northwest Airlines joins American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines and United Airlines as interline e-ticket partners with America West. With this agreement, America West passengers can now utilize e-ticketing for itineraries involving any of these six carriers.

Customers with interline e-tickets can now bypass the America West ticket counter and proceed directly to any one of America West's self-service QIKCHECK-IN kiosks. Available at more than 45 airports, America West QIKCHECK-IN kiosks allow passengers to check-in for a flight, change seat assignments, upgrade to first class, standby for an earlier flight or add a frequent flyer number to a reservation.

"One of the many things that sets us apart from other low-cost carriers is our willingness to partner with other airlines, and interline e-ticketing agreements such as this one make it easier for our passengers to connect between airlines," said Dion Flannery, vice president, scheduling and route planning. "With the additional option of using a kiosk to check in for the America West portion of their trip, passengers can enjoy even greater convenience when traveling."

Interline e-ticketing increases customer travel convenience by allowing the use of one electronic ticket for itineraries involving two or more participating airlines. Passengers no longer have to worry about lost or misplaced paper tickets, while airlines benefit from lower distribution costs.
