PLANTATION, Fla. — Transnet Wireless is establishing a national network of Wi-Fi Hot Spots through a private local distributorship program where the Hot Spot equipment is placed in locations at no cost to the location owner. The Huck’s group of stores is adding the Hot Spots Internet kiosks to its locations, according to a news release.
Huck’s stores – which operate under employee-owned parent company Martin & Bayley, Inc. – are in more than 150 locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Kentucky.
Under the program, the hardware, maintenance and monthly Internet connection fees are all paid for by the local distributor who profits from usage fees. A percentage of the revenues are also shared with the location.
"The convenience store market is a logical frontier for Wi-Fi coverage," said Brad Cartwright, Transnet Wireless president. "As the demand for Wi-Fi increases, so increases the demand for its placement in a convenient forum. Huck’s innovative approach fits well with the Transnet Wireless Wi-Fi distribution model."
