WEST CHESTER, Pa — MEI reached an industry milestone this month with the shipment of its 2 millionth Series 2000 bill acceptor. MEI celebrated the milestone shipment at its West Chester, Pa., headquarters, honoring Shaffer Distributing Company, the MEI platinum distributor that sold the 2 millionth unit, and Williams Food Service, the operator that purchased it.
"MEI's landmark sales are a true indicator that cash is still a popular payment method for retail transactions," said Andrew Osborne, global marketing manager for MEI's retail division.
Launched in 1995, MEI's Series 2000 bill acceptors — which include the AE2600 and AE2800 for retail applications, the VN2500 for vending applications and the AE2400 for amusement applications — are used in retail kiosk systems worldwide. They offer four-way bill acceptance and are developed with 100 percent optical technology.
