SAN FRANCISCO — Snapfish, a leading online photo service, announced the opening of its concept retail store in Alexandria, Va. Snapfish is leaping from the Internet into retail to achieve two goals for the company and the online photo services category. First, Snapfish aims to deliver consumers at retail the benefits Snapfish's online services already bring to digital photography on a PC or mobile device. Now local Snapfish customers can order prints online, in the comfort of their home and pick-up their order at the retail store when that option is more convenient for them.
Second, the Snapfish store will demonstrate to retailers around the country and the world how online services, delivered by a photo service provider like Snapfish, can increase sales and profits for existing photo retail businesses. Snapfish store services include free online access to Snapfish from multiple in-store "Snapfish Station" kiosks, in addition to traditional film processing. The store will also offer free online image posting for both film and digital photos and a Digital Help Center staffed by digital photography experts.
The Snapfish retail store is part of the Kodak Image Center program and was opened in cooperation with District Photo, which owns and operates several specialty photo retail locations in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
