• Hospital deploys kiosks, cancer risk assessment software

CYPRESS, Calif. — TouchVision, a wholly owned subsidiary of Trinity Learning, announced that Evanston Northwestern Healthcare has deployed the MyGenerations breast cancer risk assessment software. The software is deployed on three kiosks at ENH hospitals. MyGenerations is used to self-screen for breast cancer risk.

MyGenerations allows the user to enter their health and family history data through a series of intuitive screens. The health history data is then immediately evaluated and scored using several of the latest risk assessment models. Risk screening results are immediately communicated to the user during the same session. The user is provided with supplemental information and recommendations based on their risk factors. The user receives a printed copy of their family tree and a risk assessment that can be provided to their healthcare provider. The entire process takes less than 20 minutes to complete. Because MyGenerations is self-service healthcare, the user can perform the assessment at a time convenient to them.

Larry Mahar, TouchVision chief technology officer, stated: “While MyGenerations is engaging and interesting to use, the resulting insight provided to the user concerning their personal risk factors is invaluable. As a company, TouchVision is focused on using self-service technology to improve access to and delivery of healthcare.”

Suzanne O'Neill, Ph.D., research assistant professor and certified genetic counselor in the Center for Medical Genetics at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare, was co-creator of MyGenerations. She said, "We really want women to have access to resources that both increase awareness and help contribute to early detection. We are quite proud of having MyGenerations as one of our tools to fight breast cancer."

TouchVision develops Internet Web-based self-service software that improves customer service and satisfaction without added staffing. TouchVision provides software development and system integration to deliver immediate access to information, education and customer care. TouchVision's software products are accessed by Web sites or Web browser terminals such as kiosks.
