• EMS-TV to expand operations to Southeast Asia

PARMA, Mich. — Emergency Medical Systems, Inc., developer of EMS-TV — a kiosk-based satellite network for health information — has opened an office and created a dealer organization in Thailand to meet expanding business operations in Southeast Asia.

According to a press release, Saowalak Tangdamnoensawat will head up dealer operations for EMSI in Asia. In this position, she will be responsible for identifying and securing new installations for the machines in Southeast Asia markets, along with advertisers and content

The EmergencyMedicalStation units, featuring 17-inch LCD screens, are being placed in the pharmacy areas of retailers, in schools and in other locations.

Should an emergency occur in a location with an EMS-TV installation, a passer-by pushes a prominent red button on the kiosk and a locally based paramedic appears on the network screen in real-time. The paramedic can assess the situation via two-way audio/visual communications and, if warranted, provide access to the defibrillator stored within the kiosk. Local EMS sources are simultaneously alerted.

"Our expansion into Asia builds on our recent launch in the U.S. and our strong outlook for robust growth with EMSI's business globally," says C. Kevin Coonce, president and CEO of EMSI. Coonce adds that EMSI will soon be announcing the opening of an office and creation of a dealer network to serve the European market. The Asian office is located in Ratchaburi, Thailand.
