OMAHA, Neb. — Westpac Banking Corporation (New Zealand division) has successfully completed an upgrade of its BASE24 application software, which it has used to drive the front end processing for all of its ATM network transactions for more than 15 years.
According to a news release, the upgrade will help Westpac's network of nearly 500 ATMs more efficiently process approximately 250 million transactions per year while keeping the bank a step ahead of industry mandates.
A key component of the upgrade was the implementation of the enhanced services architecture of ACI Worldwide's Transaction Security Services. The Transaction Security Services module is designed to manage all cryptographic functions such as PIN verification and chip authentication.
The deployment will help enable Westpac's ATM network for Triple DES compliance.
According to Don McLarty, ACI's managing director of Asia/Pacific operations, Westpac New Zealand is the first ACI client in Asia/Pacific to complete both an upgrade of BASE24 and an implementation of Transaction Security Services.

This upgrade ensures we continue to deliver a trustworthy service and positions us to implement further enhancements required by our customers and the industry," said Ross Hughson, Westpac New Zealand's chief information officer, in the release.
