Wachovia needed a currency management system, one that would minimize holdings and expenses while providing 100 percent availability. After some shopping, Wachovia chose Transoft’s OptiCa$h system. The system should’ve served Wachovia well, but individual branches had placed constraints on the system and reengineered parts of the process, which kept the system from delivering on its full potential.
When John Morris, Wachovia’s vice president and cash optimization manager, realized what was happening, he began an intense campaign to educate the various branches. He personally visited the branches and issued them monthly report cards showing their performance vs. their results if they had properly followed Transoft’s system recommendations.
