SAN FRANCISCO—As part of its move to sell to corporations along industry lines, IBM's Global Services division is offering services to Brazilian corporations interested in using Linux on kiosks, ATMs, point-of-sale terminals and other devices, according to a ZDNet report.
The consulting services help customers plan and implement strategies to replace existing software with Linux-based alternatives. IBM will work with software from multiple Linux companies including Red Hat, Novell and Conectiva, a Latin American Linux distributor.
The Open Client Desktop services will be sold to companies in the retail, financial and government industries. IBM expects the companies to use the Linux software in call center PCs, ATMs, kiosks and other point-of-sale terminals.
