• Victim's dad says suspect in ATM murder had worked with victim

NEW YORK — A Brooklyn man suspected of killing an ATM technician and stuffing his body into a car trunk during a recent robbery attempt knew the victim because they had worked together, according to a report in the Journal News.

The report cited Milton Moran Sr., who said his son, Milton Jr., 29, trained suspect Paul Douglas, 32, while both were working for Brinks about two years ago.

Douglas was fired from Brinks shortly after he was trained to service ATMs, Moran said.

"I just want justice," Moran said at his son's April 26 funeral. "A father of a 7-year-old girl, and a good man, was killed."

Yonkers detectives and the FBI obtained an arrest warrant for Douglas on April 23, according to the Journal News.

Police believe Douglas beat Milton Moran Jr. to death while Moran's mouth was duct-taped. He died of suffocation and trauma from the beating.

His body was found in a parking lot at a Citibank ATM at 1915-1925 about 10:30 a.m. on April 22 after witnesses called police saying they saw someone put a body in the trunk of Moran's car, then drive away in a black Lexus.

Douglas may have Moran's semiautomatic handgun, police said. An empty holster was found in Moran's car.

At the victim's funeral, Gary Taylor, a senior vice president for Brinks, declined to comment on whether the suspect is a former employee, but did say the company was offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer. Taylor said Brinks was cooperating with police and the FBI.
