AUCKLAND, New Zealand--NextWindow, a New Zealand-based designer of optical imaging technology for touchscreens, and its Australian reseller, Jazzmile, are collaborating to design and manufacture interactive touchscreen survey kiosks for CeBIT Australia.

CeBIT, Australia's leading information and communications technology trade show, will be held May 4-6. Entering its third year, the show is expected to attract 500 exhibitors and 25,000 visitors, according to a press release.

The interactive survey, designed by Hannover Fairs Australia, will ask attendees questions about market information and business trends within the IT and communications industry. These questions will center on investment decisions, medium and long-term planning, and buying strategies.

Al Monro, CEO of NextWindow, said in the press release that the kiosks are especially designed for CeBIT.

"NextWindow's unique technology has an inherent advantage in that it provides touch sensitivity to the entire surface including the surrounding panel area as well as the active display screen," Monro said. "This larger off-screen touch area is ideal for larger icons and user-friendly navigation."

The four CeBIT branded kiosks, including 27" touch panels with 19" LCD screens, will be situated at strategic locations in the trade show.

Craig Hoskinson, General Manager of Hannover Fairs Australia, said the new touchscreen kiosks would collect relevant market data from CeBIT's exhibitors and visitors.

"Respondents will answer yes/no survey questions via touchscreen monitors," Hoskinson said. "Bar code scanners automatically download profile information of pre-registered trade show attendees."

Australian-based Irwin Solutions, specializing in online and wireless scheduling and messaging solutions, will be responsible for software content development for the kiosks.

NextWindow will also be exhibiting a touch kiosk, a back projection 'through glass' and a 42" plasma screen at this year's CeBIT. The company provides integrated touch technology solutions to a number of industries including telecommunications, tourism and retail.
