MANCHESTER, England--Working Solutions (Creative IT) has developed Photopod, a new prototype photo booth designed especially for disabled users. It was unveiled at Manchester Arndale shopping malls.
The Photopod is designed for mobility-impaired consumers who faced have difficulties using photo booths situated in public places across the UK, according to a press release.
The Photopod consists of a low-level coin mechanism, digital voice instruction for the hearing-impaired and flashing illuminated product choices for the visually impaired. Cameras situated on two levels help both able-bodied and disabled users.
"We have been working in conjunction with disabled groups to develop this product over the last four years," said Rod Shoard of Photochoice, the company that is rolling out Photopods in the UK.
Users at the Centre’s Shopmobility, a voluntary organization that provides the free loan of scooters and wheelchairs across the city, have been checking out the new Photopod for themselves.
"This is great news for our members," said manager Noreen Phillips.
