Expedia's purchase of Maui-based tour reseller includes kiosks

BELLEVUE, Wash.--Online travel agent Expedia Inc. has gone island-hopping with the purchase of Activity World, a Maui-based reseller of tours and activities.

The purchase includes more than two dozen kiosks in hotels and other Maui sites that offer local tours and activities such as luaus, helicopter sightseeing tours and snorkeling excursions, according to a press release.

Terms of the deal, expected to close in early April, were not disclosed.

Activity World has more than 80 employees and provides about 154,000 destination service packages per year in the multimillion-dollar destination services market in Hawaii.
