SeePoint Technology is trying to speed students and visitors to their destinations at the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University.
SeePoint, an interactive and self-service solutions company, has developed a staff and class directory and locator in a multi-media billboard and kiosks at the school, according to a press release.
The billboard features a 42-inch plasma screen and numerous 15-inch touch screen computer displays integrated within a single custom metal fixture. Touch display kiosks are scattered throughout the four-story building, a bustling place with more than 250 faculty offices.
SeePoint’s freestanding systems were chosen because the university’s installation required durable and attractive kiosks with a small footprint. The addition of wireless network cards to the touch displays simplifies updating the directory system and allows the university to easily relocate the freestanding kiosks as needed while also eliminating a network cable and hardwired network jack.
The system employs a way-finding software application that provides directions using a unique point of origin with a "you are here" icon from each touch display location.
The touch displays also provide immediate access to information regarding various classes and courses, searchable by class title, course number and instructor. The way-finding and directory software application was developed by the Cole Group, which specializes in interactive touch screen directories and presentation content.
The multimedia billboard’s plasma screen displays university announcements and broadcasts video programming, including live and/or streaming full-frame, full-motion video.
