For the first time, US Airways customers traveling on qualifying international flights can check in at the airline’s self-service kiosks. A passport is required as the authorized form of identification.
With this self-service upgrade, E-ticketed customers whose origin or destination country matches their country of citizenship are eligible for international check-in at US Airways kiosks.
Customers may either use the kiosk’s document scanner or manually enter their passport information. Travel documents other than passports will not be accepted at kiosks for international travel.
In addition to the new international check-in capabilities, customers also may now purchase and redeem E-Upgrades on Canada and Caribbean flights.
"As we enter the peak spring and summer travel seasons for the Caribbean and Europe, this enhancement will make the process of checking in easier and faster," said Donna Paladini, US Airways vice president of customer service, in a release. "Most transactions can be completed in under a minute."
Customers may initiate a kiosk transaction with any major credit card, Dividend Miles card or with an interline e-ticketing partner airline frequent traveler card. Also, US Airways’ Dividend Miles bonus has been extended until March 31.
Dividend Miles members will earn 1,000 bonus miles the first time they use self-service check-in service to either purchase tickets or check in for flights. Members also receive 50 bonus miles for each subsequent kiosk use.
