Solution Overview
When Capital Health needed the technology to provide convenient public access to health
information, Info Touch Technologies offered the ideal solution.
Capital Health’s kiosk initiative is part of the Community Access Program (CAP) to increase access for patients, families and others to health information via the Internet and the worldwide Web.
"These kiosks are an important step in improving access to health information and complement our efforts in the development of Capital Health Link and making health advice and information more accessible," said Sheila Weatherill, President and
CEO of Capital Health. "This supplements access to health information provided on Capital Health’s website."
The kiosks were provided under the Community Access Program (CAP). The goal of the program is to give residents across Canada affordable access to the Internet. The program is also an integral part of the federal Youth Employment Strategy, as CAP centres help develop job opportunities for young Canadians aged 15 to 30.
"Edmonton area residents will benefit from affordable, convenient Internet access," said
Honourable Anne McLellan, Minister of Health (Canada) at the official unveiling ceremony on July 4.
"This will give them opportunities for innovative learning, skills development, access to government services and business creation. The Community Access Program provides a solid platform to explore these opportunities, and is an excellent example of partnership between governments, businesses and community groups."
Kiosks have been installed in a number of sites in the Capital Health region, in addition to the two at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
