RESTON, Va. and SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Transaction Network Services (TNS) and Systech Corporation have formed an alliance to simplify the transition from legacy processing protocols to an IP infrastructure.
According to a news release, the two companies are bringing the speed and reliability of IP-based technologies to the point-of-sale with a joint solution consisting of Systech's Internet Payment Gateways and TNS' TransXpress Secure Internet gateway solution.
TNS, a provider of data communications services for transaction-oriented applications, offers TransXpress Secure to support access to TNS' secure data networks via the Internet. The Systech Internet Payment Gateway interfaces and converts legacy protocol ATM and point-of-sale devices to IP and connects the device to TransXpress Secure.
John Stafford, Systech Corporation's director of payment systems, said in the release that the two companies believe that an estimated 8.8 million U.S. merchant locations are currently candidates to move to IP.
"We are simplifying the transition to an IP infrastructure by taking care of the legacy to IP protocol conversions while eliminating the need for expensive new equipment and POS devices," he said.
