FORT WORTH, Texas -- Passengers traveling back to the United States. from Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris have been navigating the airport more quickly than ever thanks to American Airlines' four newly installed AA Self-Service Check-In machines.
American is the first U.S. carrier to offer automated check-in for international travel from Europe, and is planning additional deployments in other major European gateways, according to a news release.
Since the launch of AA Self-Service Check-In at Charles De Gaulle in December, almost 1,000 passengers have used the new machines. All four machines are available to passengers checking in with or without bags to check.
AA Self-Service Check-In machines will not alter the mandatory security agent screening that takes place immediately prior to check in, the release noted.
American Airlines' automated check-in options have been used by more than 47 million customers in the United States since the device were installed in 2000. This year alone, American Airlines' Self-Service Check-In usage has tripled, with more than 20 million passengers checking in at its machines.
Customers can check in, check bags, change seats and upgrade flights at more than 700 AA Self- Service Check-In machines and more than 330 curbside units at more than 90 locations across the country.
