Sausalito, Calif.-based Public Media Works and its EntertainmentXpress subsidiary announced the signing of an exclusive digital kiosk manufacturing deal with Signifi Solutions Inc. based in Toronto.
Signifi, an IBM Retail partner, reports it provides the only fully-digital robotic platform available in the DVD rental marketplace.
"This deal represents a formal commitment to exclusively purchase kiosks from a next-generation solution provider. And in exchange, Signifi is committed to give us priority to support our rollout commitments as we build and operate our network of kiosks across the US and Canada," said Bill Zabit, president of PMW.
PMW reported the relationship assures PMW priority for delivering kiosks, favorable pricing based on volume of kiosks purchased and a commitment for first-rate service, software development and innovative kiosk advances on an on-going basis.
"Signifi clearly stands out with a unique digital DVD kiosk solution that integrates both hardware and software from a single solution provider," Zabit continued.
Signifi has a lineup of three kiosk models that are available with a DVD capacity of 500, 800 and 1,400 each. There is also an option to place a second transaction screen on any of the three models. They are modular in design so like-models can be grouped together to achieve capacity of up to 7,000 DVDs.

Signifi said its proprietary back-end is integrated with the Esprida platform to offer enterprise-wide solutions for real-time reporting and advanced analytics. Signifi’s kiosks are designed with download technology and mobile marketing capabilities through Blue Tooth and SMS features.
EntertainmentXpress, a division of Public Media Works, provides a convenient way for consumers to buy or rent movies, games and other entertainment media through kiosks located in quick-serve food locations, grocery stores and other high-traffic, public venues. The company's business plan also includes an out-of-home advertising model with onboard 3D screens (no glasses required) in kiosks that provide its retail partners an opportunity to share in ad revenue as well as in DVD rental and sales revenue.
