More than 100,000 Chinese patients will soon use kiosks to connect with their health-care providers, according to a press release issued by Ideal Life, the Toronto-based manufacturer of the kiosks.
The company has partnered with the Chinese drug manufacturer NovaTech Biological Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. to launch the "largest remote health-monitoring project in the world," according to Jason Goldberg, Ideal Life's president.
"Individuals in villages, in community centers, and in large cities can have their health information recorded and instantly transmitted to their health-care provider in a way that fits their lifestyle," Goldberg said in a press release. "People can manage their own health, interact with their physician or health coach, and even allow family members to participate in their care on their own terms."
The first kiosks will be installed in community hospitals throughout Shandong province, and the project will expand throughout the rest of the country starting in February 2011.
