The Shanghai IFC Mall in China will soon deploy 12 kiosks throughout the facility with search and map navigation features, according to a press release from Designercity, the company creating the kiosks. 
"Usability is key," said Win Mak, managing director of Designercity. The kiosks have "big, clear buttons and a new user-orientated map system that reflects the direction in which the shopper is standing. The touchscreen layout is split between the shop database on the right and the map/location information on the left."
The kiosks calculate distance, guide shoppers to their destinations and provide way-finding maps with a parking directory. They also feature restaurants and mall amenities.
"Convenience and usability is the watchword for the client, too," Mak said. "Seeing as there are multiple kiosks on different floors, Designercity has created a master database to update them all easily via a central server."
Mak said he anticipates the kiosks becoming an increasingly familiar part of the shopping experience.
"It will revolutionize way-finding in the office building environment, too," he said.
Designercity has already deployed the kiosks at the Sun Hung Kai Centre in Wanchai, Hong Kong.
