About 60 percent of smartphone users believe that their security could be compromised if they use it for e-commerce transactions, according to Affinion International.

Around a quarter of people associated m-commerce with an increased risk of credit card fraud and identity theft. Only 13 percent, however, thought that the same security fears surrounded online purchases when shopping on a computer.

However, in spite of these concerns the m-commerce market is expected to increase this year, according to The Center for Retail Research. It's predicting that U.K. m-commerce will rise by 53 percent in 2012.
