KIOSK Information Systems and Self-Service Network will showcase their fraud-eliminating kiosk solutions that provide secure dispensing, limited-associate access and self-service independence June 20-21 at the NRF Loss Prevention Conference at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
SSN's GiftWise kiosks securely dispense and authenticate gift cards upon completed transactions, eliminating fraudulent activation, Rick Wessels, EVP for SSN, said in a company press release.
"Gift cards are a rapid growth product category," he said. "We have added a broad range of security, marketing and advertising features to GiftWise. It truly is a comprehensive solution for any organization that desires a secure, low-cost, automated gift card-selling solution."
Available in outdoor, through-wall and indoor configurations, the GiftWise kiosks enable 24/7 prepaid card sales in major shopping mall properties and retail stores. GiftWise can be utilized to capture customer information, dispense coupons and display advertising and other functions that help shopping centers drive shoppers to their properties, Wessels said.
KIOSK will provide demonstrations on the GiftWise self-service gift card platform with secure delivery and card value fraud reduction. In addition, KIOSK will also demonstrate key platform features of the StoreBOT automated retail solution, including shrink control and intelligent inventory.

Fast forward to 2012 where the cost issue is still the case, plus plastic gift cards are under tremendous pressure from mobile wallets and and loyalty programs to wither and die, which they will in a few years. No disrespect intended, but who possibly sees a future in something that's already ten years behind the times? And I do not believe that plastic gift cards "...are a rapid growth product category."
