A stainless steel, industrial-grade keyboard designed to resist harsh environments, including bad weather and severe temperatures, is now available for kiosks and ATMs. The keyboards can stand up to abuse that includes scratching, shock, stains or burns, according to a company press release from APEM Components Inc., the company that designed the keyboard.
The APEM Series 9 keyboard features AISI3161 stainless steel keys engineered with the highest vandal resistance rating of IK09, as well as IP65 water ingress protection.
Several stainless steel keyboard models are available with or without trackballs, depending upon the application. The keyboards have an operating temperature range of minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 20 degrees Celsius) to more than 158 degrees Fahrenheit (70 degrees Celsius).
The keybards consist of custom and standard stainless steel keys with chemically etched key markings, ensuring a long life. APEM also has a line of keyboards and keypads with tactile feedback that have the standard IP65 front face sealing and IK07 vandal rating.
